WHAT'S NEXT AT TSF?
Wednesday, October 8 | 1:00 PM
Author, Ed Maliskas, a TSF attender, will tell us about his book, John Brown to James Brown - The Little Farm Where Liberty Budded, Blossomed and Boogied.
Ed will share the previously untold story of America’s #1 Black history site located on one small piece of farm property south of Boonsboro. From this site John Brown led the raid on the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, touching off the Civil War and sparking the abolition of slavery. A century later, the Black Elks purchased and developed the property to create a memorial to Brown and start the Civil Rights Movement. Giants of Rhythm and Blues performed there, including James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, the Drifters and scores of others. Ed will be singing some of those songs that we are so familiar with.
There will also be a dessert bar, so bring one of your favorites to share.
